Les Dentellières de Cogne is a craft cooperative that carries on the tradition of embroidery and lace. This craft with ancient origins made its first appearance in Cogne in the 19th Century, when Honorée Guighardaz brought back to the village the techniques she learned from the Benedictine nuns who had settled in Saint Nicolas.
The workshop is located in “Maison di Pitz”, in a typical Valdostan house, in the wonderful Cogne Valley, near Aosta. Here, a group of skilled artisans make finely embroidered textile furnishings by hand, resorting to the characteristic bobbins and pillow lace, in keeping with the typical motifs of “Cogne lace”: curtains, sheets, tablecloths, doilies and other home furnishings are made from linen threads, cross-weaved by their skilled hands, all thanks to the mastery and know-how of those who have a deep knowledge of this tradition and technique. They also craft custom items upon commission.
