Dezen Dezen is Marco and Michele’s textile printing and decoration workshop, located in the heart of Trieste.
The project started in 2014 with the intention of recovering an important tradition, that of printing foulards with traditional Eastern European patterns, continuing Marco’s family’s business, founded in 1938. In the early Nineties, due to the Yugoslav war, their business lost most of its market. Thus, hundreds of screen-printing frames used to print their foulards were left untouched for decades.
Then, Marco and Michele decided to breathe new life into the company, in order to preserve and enhance this precious heritage: the traditional foulards designs were recovered and are now used by the two craftsmen to create contemporary garments and accessories. The designs are hand-printed in limited series, using the original screen-printing frames, natural fibre fabrics and high quality dyes, with great attention to the environment and sustainable practices.

In Dezen Dezen's workshop, one breathes sensitivity and care. The work of recovering traditional decorations is fundamental to the history of the area, but their work is not only aimed at enhancing local heritage. Instead, they use the tradition to create something new: it is not a simple remake, but the revival of techniques and patterns linked to their family history, brought up to date on t-shirts, sweatshirts, hair clips and sunglasses, i.e. objects used mainly by young people who thus familiarise themselves with an ancient taste that is still wearable and relevant today!
