Antonino Airenti is a master bowmaker. Born in Genoa in 1960, he has always been passionate about violin making and he has dedicated himself to the profession of violin maker since when he was very young. He trained alongside master Claudio Amighetti and Sandro Soldi. In 1982, he founded the Genovese Artistic Lutherie Association together with other luthiers. In the same year, he opened his workshop together with Federico Löwenberger.
Since then he has participated in several national competitions and won numerous prizes.
After many years of experience in the construction of musical instruments, he started making baroque bows in 1995, a specialisation he has never abandoned.
In addition to production, he also carries out research work on antique and original bows, in collaboration with important national and European institutions.
In recent years, he has shared the results of his research, giving lectures and conferences dedicated to musicians who wish to deepen their knowledge on the history of violinmaking and musical instruments.
During his career, he has made musical instruments and bows for musicians and institutions all over the world, including the Vienna Conservatory, the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig, the Higher School of Music of Catalonia, and many others.
