After graduating in Modern Foreign Languages and Literature, based in Milan and Cremona, Virginia Villa has devoted, with great expertise and commitment, her 35-year long passionate professional activity to string instruments manufacturing. The former Director of Milan’s Civica Scuola di liuteria and director of Fondazione Stradivari; a member of Museo del Violino’s and of Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte’s cultural committee; the curator of important exhibitions both in Italy and abroad, and the author of several publications; a member of the Governing Council of ALI-Associazione Liutaria Italiana and an advisor for Cremona Mondomusica exhibition, Virginia Villa is now the prestigious general manager of Cremona’s Museo del Violino (Violin Museum). It is a unique structure pooling the functions of Museum, Auditorium and research centre: an open, free-for-all ‘temple’ of musical culture, whose mission, under Virginia Villa’s attentive and visionary management, is offering to widely different audiences the experience of great historic and contemporary luthiery (string instruments manufacturing). A supporter of the international Friends of Stradivari network, she coordinates the prestigious Concorso Triennale Internazionale degli Strumenti ad Arco Antonio Stradivari, better known as the Olympics of violin-making.
