Master craftsman Enrico Salino started his restoration business when he was still very young, and learned the trade in the workshops of the most important masters in Piedmont, specialising in conservative wood restoration.
Next, he established his laboratory in Biella, where he has been working for years on a commission basis for the Soprintendenza (government entity responsible for the cultural heritage), the diocesan curia, several foundations and other public and private organisations. As a committed professional, he keeps enhancing his knowledge and skills by attending in-depth and refresher courses. Restoration is for him an ethical work, whose aim is retrieving treasures from the past and making them available to future generations, and he is well aware that his contributions will last over time.
Enrico Salino is a teacher at the MAC – Mestieri d’Arte Contemporanei in Biella.

È un mestiere affascinante quello del restauratore ligneo, per Enrico Salino riuscire con le proprie mani a donare nuova vita ad oggetti che sembravano inevitabilmente perduti, è una soddisfazione difficile da descrivere a parole. Ed è una grossa responsabilità: “oltre alle competenze tecniche, dice Enrico, lavorare su patrimoni antichi, che siano nobili ed eccellenti o nati dalla semplicità della cultura popolare, risveglia sempre una forte volontà di tutelarli per poterli consegnare al futuro nella loro intima perfezione. Una responsabilità che non conosce orari, né stanchezza, condivisa con i collaboratori, per un restauro etico che guarda non solo alla rinnovata fruibilità funzionale ed estetica del manufatto, ma anche al passato che lo ha portato sino a noi, di mano in mano, di vita in vita, con la consapevolezza che questo intervento rimarrà nel tempo".
