Design Center 1991 is a company founded by Nino Basso, who today manages it along with his niece Cristina Colonnello. At first, the activity focused on designing and building home and office accessories by using unconventional and rare materials, such as shagreen leather, which they process according to ancient techniques rediscovered by Nino Basso himself, thanks to his studies and research and through his work experience with great masters. The passion for experimentation drew Nino Basso towards ceramics and mosaic, eventually leading him to design and create himself, entirely by hand and with no use of moulds or mechanical equipment, unique or limited series pieces which stand out for the innovation of traditional processes, thus bringing to life original pairings, such as mosaic inlays or relief textures, and chromatic shades of great decorative character.
