Les Amis du Bois is a small workshop specializing in woodcarving in Introd, near Aosta, in the heart of the Alps.
Since 1974 these masters have been creating sculpted and carved objects, typical of the Aosta Valley region, as well as functional objects, tableware, kitchenware and home decors, abiding by the secrets and techniques of local traditional craftsmanship. Their production mainly focuses on two typical regional products: the “grolla”, a very elaborate chalice once reserved to special occasions only, and the “coppa dell’amicizia” (friendship cup), a bowl with a lid and several spouts, nowadays used to brew the typical Valdostan-style coffee; however they also craft plates, mortars, bowls, cutting boards, bas-reliefs and various functional objects for daily use, all hand-carved in wood and hand-finished. The workshop and the adjoining showroom are located in a typical mountain house, made of wood and stone. Here they showcase and sell the company’s products as well as items created by other local craftsmen.
