Since 1997, Costanza Algranti had been collecting all kind of stuff – pallets, gutters, barrels and sheet metal which she used to transform, in her workshop in Milan’s Isola district, into furniture, lamps, mirrors and floors. After her recent, premature passing, her nephew Pietro is continuing her creative process, sticking to the concept of “leaving the material as near as possible to what it was the moment you found it”.
Worn-out, damaged materials are reassembled in this workshop, giving life to new, unique pieces with a taste of the past. Irregular surfaces spell originality, and flaws mean value.
Production is mainly aimed at bespoke designing and planning of private and public areas, leaving plenty of room to flexibility and customisation.

As is often the case with Italian ateliers, tradition is handed down from seniors to juniors. Algranti Lab conveys a new aesthetics, inherited from Costanza Algranti’s creativity, expressing itself through dismissed materials, where recycling becomes an art.
In fact, the true value of these artefacts is not in recycling, but in the effect they trigger: sheet metal, copper sheets, wooden materials ruined by time are carefully reused and readjusted to fit new spaces and meet new requirements. They tell a story, insofar as they have already lived one life and have survived. Only the very best things – besides feelings – survive the test of time and the objects we are talking about do have feelings and thoroughly express them.
