Three generations of master glassmakers constitute Alessandro Grassi’s heritage. The activity started at the end of the 19th century with Alessandro’s grandfather. He had learnt the art in France, in an atelier specialising in the restoration of the Chartres Cathedral’s windows. Nowadays, the atelier in Milan creates leaded-glass windows, following the ancient French window-making tradition. The craftsmen use high-quality coloured glass paste, which is first lead-bound and tin-soldered, then painted with grisaille and fired at high-temperature. The atelier receives orders from all over the world, both for religious and domestic interiors. Beside artefact production, the atelier is particularly committed to the transmission of knowledge through courses on glassmaking techniques.
