BIO
Sara Ricciardi is a versatile designer, born in Benevento in 1989. She studied between Milan, Istanbul and New York, and she graduated in Product Design from NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. Then she opened her own studio, where she designs products for companies, unique pieces for galleries and she devises performances and installations.
Her work stems from a deep, narrative exploration, and her extremely creative approach is based on a strict research method: each project follows a precise vision and aesthetics, while the shapes she creates stem from the message she wants to communicate.
She works with the best Italian masters of craftsmanship, in order to define the proper materials, techniques and finishing for each piece.
Between her most successful projects it is worth mentioning the vases designed for DoppiaFirma 2017 in collaboration with Nicolò Morales, the collection “Best of Italy” for Coin Casa and the setup of the concept store “Eden” in the Luisaviaroma shop in Florence at Pitti 2019, on the occasion of the launch of the capsule collection by Attico.
She has been selected by Wallpaper and Panerai among the finalists of “Next Designer Generator”, while Triennale Design Museum listed her between the “Women of Italian contemporary design”, and her works were displayed in the exhibition “Women in Design”.
She founded the collective “The Ladies’ Room”, together with Agustina Bottoni, Ilaria Bianchi and Astrid Luglio, with whom she creates original projects for different galleries.
She defines herself as a weird objects collector.
She teaches Relational Design and Co-design Practice at NABA and Domus Academy in Milan, and she runs international workshops about Urban Regeneration and Design Thinking.

And there we are in Vietri, between iodum and ceramics is wonderful Pierfrancesco Solimene and his workshop. A young artisan who has been able to create a personal, textured style, yet drawing inspiration from the typical majolica of the Costiera Amalfitana. He made the technique his own, and turned it into a personal research of pottery and pigments, thus shaping such an alive, grainy and authentic matter - jus like he is.

In Florence there is a place where Lady Gaga would go crazy: it is the Mazzanti Piume workshop. When you enter, you will feel like a seductive fowl, or one of those feathered gods of Native American drawings. Duccio, the owner, will lead you through the culture of feather, and will make you discover and admire the feather as you have never done before, its meaning and how to make it. With feathers, the Mazzantis create the most disparate works, such as clothes, hats, draperies, my feathered machinery, and much more.

Chiara Valentini is an artisan from Brescia of great sweetness. In her workshop, she works with sheets of glass and she creates feminine shades of fine taste. The ice-looking consistency of the glass will enchant you. The brightness of her products, together with the texture of the glass, which is clear and transparent but thick at the same time, is, in my opinion, very charming. You will always find Chiara busy with experimenting and combining new mixtures.

In the centre of Florence, if you still want to hear the wooden looms beating, if you want to lose yourself in a journey between warp and weft, shining fabrics and silks, then you have to visit Antico Setificio Fiorentino. This is a magic place, where time is suspended. I am always dazzled by the brightness of their brocades, the enchanting fabrics and the daring techniques applied to the textiles.

Bianco Bianchi is a workshop in Pontassieve dedicated to the ancient art of scagliola. When you enter the atelier, Alessandro and Elisabetta will lead you through chisels and moulds, as well as through the fake marbles that simulate, and overcome, the commesso fiorentino. You will be enchanted. I am very close to this workshop, because this is where I started my career as a designer. Between those walls is where I begun to experiment with the Bianchis, a family of artisans dedicated to the research and development of this rare technique. They are sublime engravers - they make surfaces flourish with drawings and accurate chromatic combinations.

Simone Desirò is a wonderful artisan, who is able to master the difficult art of Rima marble, which is a technique that simulates marble by using chalks and pigments. It is an ancient and hand-working technique, that gives mind-blowing formal results. In his workshop Simone, a man of great purity, creates incredible, sinuous shapes with wonderful chromatic combinations.
