Antica Fornace Mariani is a historic craft company that has been working the clay of Impruneta for over one hundred years, creating splendid terracotta artefacts, thus keeping the tradition of the area alive.
This village on the outskirts of Florence, in fact, has been known for centuries for the production of terracotta of great value.
The furnace was founded in 1914, when Anselmo Mariani opened a business dedicated to bricks and refined building materials production. His son Angiolo, who took over the company after him, decided instead to focus on ceramic art and terracotta.
Today, the factory has passed down to his sons Luigi, Franco and Enrico, who are now the third generation of the Mariani family, and it is still recognised as a true excellence of Impruneta terracotta craftmanship.
Statues and sculptures, vases, flowerpots and other garden furnishings are made entirely by hand, carefully following each stage of production, and faithfully respecting the traditional techniques of working with clay. The secrets of the trade have been handed down from father to son and are preserved in this workshop, where artefacts of extraordinary beauty come to life, and where value and prestige are given to a history of know-how and excellence, vocation and passion for beauty.
