Buccheri Antonio Rossi is a ceramic workshop in Gubbio, established in the 30s by brothers Antonio Maria and Carlo Alberto. The business was managed for many years by Antonio’s son, ceramist and architect Gaetano Rossi: he continued his family tradition of bucchero, a very ancient kind of ceramics, well-known for its black color.
The research of new balances and pure shapes have always characterized his production. He collaborated with Gio Ponti in the 50s and his works are displayed in the Museo Nacional de Cerámica in Valencia.
After Gaetano’s passing, his daughter Letizia Rossi is continuing the business, managing the workshop as well as the production of the pieces: design objects and sculptures, as well as lamps, tableware and other home accessories are all entirely handmade by her.

My collaboration with the workshop Antonio Rossi began after a journey in Gubbio, the land of ancient Etruscan and rich in Bucchero, a particular local variety of ceramic. Gaetano Rossi, who carries on with passion his father’s tradition started in the early 30s, can be defined as one of the leading experts of manual processing and coal firing of this magnificent material.
