Dagmar Friedrich was born in Ulm, Germany, but since 1986 has worked and lived in Spilimbergo, a town renowned for artistic mosaic, in the province of Pordenone, where she now has her workshop.
After graduating as a Master Mosaicist from the prestigious “Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli” (Friuli’s Mosaic School) and taking restoration courses held at the same school by teachers from Ravenna, in 1990 she opened her atelier in the historical city centre.
Dividing her time between mosaic making, artistic production and teaching, her work is based on the search for alternative materials, complementary to traditional marbles and glazes: fascinated by natural shapes and elements, by the veins and marks left on stones by time and weathering, she crafts her mosaics based on the inspiration she draws from each fragment, juxtaposing them so that the parts complement each other.
She creates pictures, sculptures, home decors and works of art, with a preference for small formats, which allow for a more minute and precious workmanship.

Dagmar's workshop is a bright and welcoming place. She settled in Spilimbergo after attending the Friuli Mosaic School and deciding to turn her passion into a profession. In her works, her love and respect for nature and its elements is visibile. She makes macro and mini works, in which the common thread is harmony and balance.
