Inspired by the great 20th-century artists, Donatella Zaccaria approached the art of glassmaking while she was still a student in Milan’s Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, when she started creating her designs in artistic glass and mosaics.
Each of her projects is a unique work, a combination between art and craftsmanship, a custom-made product based on in-depth research of materials and an experimental approach to processing techniques, as well as extreme care about details.
Donatella only works with fine glass and is skilled in all traditional techniques: from Byzantine mosaic to glass fusing, from the Tiffany technique to lead-crystal glass, from collage to painting with furnace-fired grisaille, all of them allowing her to express her creativity in multiple aesthetic styles.
Besides creating stained-glass windows, home furnishings and jewels, she can also restore lamps, church or vintage windows, mosaics and other glass pieces.
All along her career, she has also cooperated with major designers both in Italy and abroad, including Alessandro Mendini, Claudio Salocchi, Alessandro Menna and Studio M.O.R.S.A.
