Francesca Bencivenni’s first approach to the art of embroidery was at three years-old when she was taught by her mother and very skilled grandmother. In her youth, she experimented and perfected various techniques, also following courses in bobbin lacemaking and cutwork. She also attended the Aemilia Ars school where she learned the needle lace technique which became her preferred style; she then followed further training courses in Bologna to perfect her technique.
Today Francesca designs and creates decorative and hand embroidered furnishing accessories as well as specially commissioned reproductions of antique fabric works. A skilled artisan, she also teaches the Aemilia Ars technique throughout Italy as well as hosting private courses in her workshop in San Giovanni in Persiceto.
