Gabriella Gabrini is one the few inheritors of the ancient art of “Grand Feu” enamel on metal. In her youth, she learned the trade in Maestro Paolo De Poli’s atelier, where she had the pleasure of meeting world-renowned designers and artists like Giò Ponti, Marco Zanuso, Gae Aulenti and Aligi Sassu.
In her Padua’s atelier, she creates artwork, decorative objects, furniture, icons, chalices, and sacred furnishings and, thanks to a special technique, she applies pâte de verre on copper, iron, silver and gold surfaces, thus obtaining unique effects.
Over the years, she has been awarded many prizes and acknowledgements, also taking part in international collective and solo exhibitions. Also, she has been active in protecting artistic craftsmanship and standing for equal opportunities for women.
Gabriella Gabrini is the President of “Antichi Mestieri” Association.
She has been invited to represent Italy at the exhibition “Conversation, International Exhibition of Enamel on Metal” at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Limoges, on the occasion of “Impertinente” (2022), a cultural event dedicated to the art of enamel, which is recognized in Limoges as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, together with porcelain and stained glass.
That was an occasion that allowed the public to discover expressive and creative characteristics of the ennmel technique.
