Giuseppe Giudici is gnomonist, a master crafter specialized in sundials and solar clocks production.
He taught himself the craft of gnomonics by reading manuals and pamphlets. He later trained in this same field by experimenting with sundials drawing and construction techniques, and then launched his own business, “Orologi senza tempo”.
Today he creates made-to-order sundials with decorated quadrants on windows, or as frecos or sculptures in different materiales, such as marble, stoneware, bronze or steel, both for indoor and outdoor use.
He also makes spherical astrolabes for patios and gardens: these are reproductions of celestial spheres, consisting of rings called armillae, generally made of metal, representing the circles of the celestial sphere.
He personally takes care of every step of the production of his unique pieces: from the evaluation of the location and mathematical calculations to ensure the precise orientation of the sundial to the definitive project, construction and fine tuning.
He works in his workshop in Merone, near Como, or more often on site.
Each piece is a veritable work of art and can be personalised with decorations in pure gold, decorative mottos or other iconographic elements in line with the clients’ requests thus combining beauty with chronometric functionality.
