Julia de Lucca‘s first approach to the art of the violin and viola was when she was a child studying at the Varese Music Lyceum. In 1979 she moved to Cremona to continue her studies at the Cremona International Violin making School – IPIALL. The true change in her career was during a period in France when working under the guidance of the luthiers Jean Bauer and Jean Schmitt; this was when she made the definitive choice to become a restorer of musical instruments. In 1991 she returned to Milan where she opened her own workshop where she still works on the maintenance, repair and fine-tuning of bowed instruments using only the finest quality materials. In her workshop in Via Piermarini 3, Julia also offers a series of fine instruments for rental in addition to their appraisal and evaluation.
