Karin Putsch-Grassi is an artist and ceramist. Born in Wuppertal, Germany, in 1960, she moved to Italy when she was only 22 years old. Today she lives and works in Figline Valdarno, near Florence, where she opened her workshop. Her first experience with ceramics was inside Albrecht Kiedaisch’s atelier, in Tübingen, where she worked as an apprentice. She later studied at Florence’s Art Institute, where she graduated as Master of Arts, and at London’s Goldsmiths College. Today she holds classes and workshops in her studio “La Casina”, in Tuscany, where she also creates contemporary ceramics, artworks, sculptures and a few functional objects, experimenting with local clays, glazes and different kinds of firings. She took part in exhibitions and contests in Italy, Europe and Asia. She was invited to several ceramic festivals, including those in Aberystwyth (UK) and Sasama (Japan). She won second place at the Contest “Ceramic&Colours Award” (2016, Faenza). She is a member of AIC – Accademia Internazionale di Ceramica (International Academy of Ceramics).
