Lidia Marti is a true artist of ceramics: in her workshop in Valgrana, near Cuneo, she creates truly unique vases, sculptures, candle holders and design objects, characterized by seemingly floating surfaces connected by metallic wires.
Lidia combines technical and formal research, interpreting the decorative object through its shapes and three-dimensional features, de-structuring volumes and alternating solids and voids, thus endowing her ceramics with great lightness; she also combines clay with other materials such as metal and nylon. Each object is first shaped on the potter’s wheel, then glazed and enriched with refractory metal accents and finally fired at 980°C.
Her inspiration also comes from contemporary jewellery: Lidia Marti re-interprets geometric patterns, creating molecular compositions and constellations, designed as actual wearable sculptures. The innumerable combinations of elements and shapes make each of her creations innovative and unexpected, giving life to tiny works of art with a strong evocative power.
