Zuma Ceramiche is Lucia Carpentieri‘s ceramics workshop in Vietri sul Mare.
Belonging to a family of artists, she approached painting in the studio of her father Michele Carpentieri, a painter and ceramist from Salerno. In his atelier, she had the chance to study the works of Caravaggio, Bellini and Hayez, and to experiment with the oleographic technique. Fascinated by ceramics and the “alchemical aspects” of this art, she decided to make a profession out of it: in 2011 she opened her first workshop in Avellino, which five years later she moved to Vietri sul Mare.
Today, in this small atelier, she dedicates herself to the creation of refined pieces: vases, installations, jewellery, as well as everyday objects, whose ordinary feature becomes precious thanks to the handmade process.
Her production stands out for its shapes and geometries. Infact, she is inspired by ancient cultures, such as the Mesoamerican ones, but also by the avant-gardes of the 20th century, such as Op art, and in particular by the works of Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley. She also observes the Vietri decorations and the ancient tiles of the Amalfi coast, which she reinvents in an original way.
She combines all these different elements in her works, which are eventually unique and eclectic.
