Pierluca “Bepi” Mazzotti founded the ceramic workshop Pierluca in Albisola Capo, near Savona, in 1953. The production ended in 1963, but Clara Biagi and “Bepi” Mazzoti jr. took the business over and started it again in 1989, with Dario Bevilacqua as director.
Besides the design of classical Ligurian motifs, dating back to the XVII century, they have collaborated with important international artists for many years, to create brandnew collections with the aim to innovate the colors and the shapes of an ancient craft. Their works are characterized by a balance between aesthetics and functionality and by cultural references, like the avantgarde collection Futurismo 3.0 revives the spirit of the Second Futurism.
The attachment to tradition and the contemporary slant reveal Pierluca’s purpose to ensure the future of one of the historical sectors of Italian artisanal manufacturing.
