Galleria 291est is an interesting copperplate workshop I have just had an opportunity to visit thanks to a graphic engraver I hold in high regard and who is collaborating with them.
Here, young people are creating artistic productions connected to top quality art print. They are collaborating with artists working in different directions (some of them are tackling art print for the very first time thanks to the workshop) for exhibitions and for extremely accurate and demanding editions. They also cooperate with other initiatives connected to quality art print, approaching the “trade” in a serious way, without losing sight of creativity and research. This is how savoir-faire and art research walk gorgeously hand in hand in a small workshop, where Giorgio Upiglio’s spirit still seems to be present.
